Where are you going today?
I'm going to London.
How will you get there?
I'll be taking the train.
What time does the train leave for London?
The train leaves at 10:00
What do you want to do in London?
I want to see Buckingham Palace,
I also want to see the River Thames and perhaps možná take a Thames River Boat Cruise because there are often guides průvodci on the boat. This will be a good way of learning about the history surrounding okolní the River.
Morning. How was London?
Lovely! Půvabný! Very interesting and busier than I expected.
Did you see Big Ben?
We did, yeah - we walked right by it as it chimed zazvonil 12 noon. Very loud!
And Buckingham Palace?
Yes, loads zatížení of people outside but we managed ale zvládli jsme to to see the changing of the guard and the music was brilliant!
And the food, was it fish and chips and pie 'n mash koláč s kaší ?
Well, there was more on offer V nabídce but after a Thames cruise that took us to the Tower of London ...
...we went to a traditional pub called the Sherlock Holmes Pub
Did you do any tours? Yes, the Adventures in English Tour, but when I went back to London the next day I got lost on the tube for 30 minutes, so a tour of some old Victorian tunnels.
Was the tube actually vlastně scary?
No, just 'mind the gap', they mean it.

Interviewer: What's your favourite pub in London? Teacher: Um, I think the Sherlock Holmes Pub
Interviewer: Oh, nice choice! Why do you reckon it'd suit your Czech students? Do they like traditional British grub (žrádlo?) Teacher: I think that's the whole point. They want to see something a bit different - they want to see something traditional, and it's a traditional pub in the heart of London. It also is historic and associated with the famous fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes.
Interviewer: Fair enough - that place does have character. Tell me, what's the first British food word you'd teach your students?
Teacher: Probably fish and chips or a Jam Butty
Interviewer: Classic picks - fish and chips will have them queuing up. If they asked 'What's a jam butty?
Teacher: It's got jam inside some white bread with butter, and it's sort of squishy (měkké), and it hits the spot when you're hungry.
Interviewer:That sounds perfect - squishy and straight to the point. Now, suppose one of them wants to try a pint. What would you tell them that 'proper beer' means here?
Teacher: I wouldn't say proper beer because the Czechs are known for having some of the best beer in the world
So what I would suggest is that we introduce British ales, which are totally different to traditional lagers.
Interviewer: Exactly. Would you let them try a real bitter, or keep it to something milder like London Pride?
Teacher: So what I would suggest is that we introduce British ales, which are totally different to traditional lagers.
Interviewer: Exactly. Would you let them try a real bitter, or keep it to something milder like London Pride?
Teacher: I think London Pride would be a good start - see how they react to that, and maybe if we're doing a pub crawl, we might go to another pub nearby and I could introduce them to something a bit stronger.
Interviewer: Fair call. London Pride's smooth enough not to scare them off.
Interviewer: How do you teach them to say 'cheers' when they clink (cinkají) glasses?
Teacher: Okay, I would say it is like saying 'na zdraví' in Czech, but that we say 'cheers'.
CHEERS! Na zdraví!
